Topic: Troubleshooting and Bug Reports /
order of pages
I just reformatted the font size of my Table of Contents so that it will be on one page. You could also do this by making it two columns instead of one if your titles are not too long. To change the font size, click on “Change Layout” and then you will see a faint ~ on the page (not under the list of types of layout. Click on the ~ and choose Table of Contents. There, you can change the font and style. This is my second book and I just discovered this feature. I really like having the feature because it allows me to customize my book. I hope this helps.

order of pages
I am having trouble getting my pages in the order I want them to be instead of the order it places them in automatically. For example, my Table of Contents is 2 pages long so I would like them to face each other, one on the left and one on the right, but it is automatically putting a blank page on the left, page 1 on the right, then you turn the page and get page 2 on the left. Can I fix this?

Memories split up between pages
Hi ghesmdukecox,
MemoryPress has a sophisticated algorithm for breaking content and splitting it onto different pages. It will do the best it can to balance the content on the pages so that it looks good. It will flow to the next page when you’re memory is longer than the current page.
I hope that answers your question. Here’s some more about our typesetting system

Memories split up between pages
Okay, I just figured it out. Kind of dingy of me. But I do wonder what most people do when their memory breaks between two pages that open up together. Do you leave it or do you try to get the memory all on one page? Thanks

Memories split up between pages
How can I edit the book to keep people’s memories on the same page? Many of the memories folks have written will get split up by a page break. I would like to put the entire story on one page. Usually it’s just a few sentences that is on the next page. I can’t seem to figure out how to do this and I’m too afraid to play around with it. I don’t want to lose a memory. Thanks

When I submit my book, how long will it take to arrive?
Need to know your deadline for submitting your book?
Remember, we are printing and binding the highest quality book you can find. Our hardbound, library quality books are meant to stand the test of time. This exceptionally high quality takes time. Please don’t expect instant results, you will need to be patient and wait a little while to receive your book. Please make sure to give yourself enough time to meet your deadline.
Our weekly deadlines are Friday at midnight. We start printing each new batch of books and they are typically finished and ready to ship by the following Friday. We ask for 10 business days in case we have a technical or printing malfunction. This is so that we have 2 print runs before your book is needed. Delays do not happen often, but they do happen, and there is nothing worse than putting in all that effort and not receiving your book in time.
To determine your Press Deadline, you will want to determine the Friday before your deadline, then go back two weeks. That Friday at midnight will be your deadline. If you submit your file by that day, we can guarantee the book will arrive on time. (If your deadline is around a major holiday where business would be closed or shipping delayed – please contact us to confirm your submission deadline)
In a big rush, or not going to meet your deadline? You can cut the deadline closer, and only allow us one week to print, but it is not 100% guaranteed that the book will arrive in time for your event. We do offer overnight or 2-day shipping to help expedite things. Our fastest turn around would be, if you order on Friday, chose overnight shipping, and there were no delays or printing errors. In this case we could have the book back to you by the next Friday. This is NOT guaranteed, but it is possible.

Custom pages issue
To remove a custom page, you will open “Manage Custom Pages” and drag the page to the trash can. The trash can will turn yellow and you can let go. Then save your changes to return to your book.

Custom pages issue
I changed my mind about a particular custom page, but I cannot figure out how to delete it. How do you delete an empty custom page? The grey boxes are still there, but I want the text on the following page to go back one page where the custom page is now.

Editing a Page
Hi Andrea,
To your first question, try placing a page break at the end of “second” so that “youngest” ends up on the next page. The page break is the option that looks like a line =, next to bold, lists and other options in your editor.
To your second question, saving failed means that your computer wasn’t able to reach the MemoryPress servers and it’s letting you know that you can’t assume that your memory is safe. Try saving again in a minute or, if you happen to loose your connection to the web, select all your text with your mouse and click control+c to copy it to the clipboard so that you don’t loose it.

One more question…when I am adding a memory, why does it sometimes say, “saving failed”? What does that mean?

Editing a Page
I have 3 headings under the first chapter--“our children”—“our first child”, “second”, and “youngest”. The last one, “our youngest child”, is on the page before the text begins for the youngest child. How can I move the text back to where it needs to be so that it is just underneath the heading? It’s really confusing! Thanks.

Undo
Hi,
This is a great suggestion. What did you have in mind, an ‘undo’ meaning ‘my last change’ or an ‘undo’ meaning, ‘go back to the last time I saved this?’

In Pyxlin text editor it would be great to have an ‘undo’ option.

my obituary starts on page 3 how do I change it
If your first chapter is starting on page 3, instead of 1, there are 2 things to check for.
1. Is there an empty chapter on page 1? Move you mouse over page one. Do you get a box that says “Click to Edit” If so, drag it to the trash can, and your next chapter will move up to page 1.
2. Do you have a photo page on page 1? If so, open “Manage Custom Pages” and drag the photo page, after chapter 1. That way your text will start on page one and be followed by your pictures.
If neither of these solves your problem please call customer service at 888-326-5327 – they would be glad to help.

my obituary starts on page 3 how do I change it
I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong but the obituary which is the beginning of this whole book starts on page 3. This leaves page 1 and 2 blank. How do I make it start on page 1, I’m desperate!

My Journal saving, loading, and type setting
Arthur,
We would love for you to use Pyxlin’ to record your daily activities in Italy. I’m so jealous. I looked up your journal, and it seemed to be working on our end. Let us know if using FireFox helps. It often solves numerous problems. Enjoy your trip!

Juliet,
Thank you for the great suggestions, we will definitely consider adding them directly to the list. In the mean time, we have a great feature for this occasion. Any contributor can choose the relationship “Other” and it brings up a box for them to type in their own personal relationship. I hope this will fill the need for you, while we update our list.

Hi, I’m doing a memory book for our pastor. I’d like to have more options for the relationships section that contributors click on.
For example, I’d like:- Congregant Co-worker Colleague Fellow Minister Student Presbyter
Can you let me know if this is possible?
Thank you, Juliet

My Journal saving, loading, and type setting
I created a My Journal and typed in the first chapter on the web site. I pressed save and it went into the save and loading mode. I waited for a half hour for it to change pages and save my work. I finally hit cancel and it came up with the following error message: Line 1730 Char: 5 Error: Invalid argument. Code 0
I copied and pasted it a couple of times and had the same result but didn’t wait for a long time between to cancel it. I finally got it to go to typesetter. There were approximately 20 copies of what I wrote one after the other. In trying to delete all of them I got the message on some of them that said Cannot delete. I would go and delete another one and come back to that one. After a couple of tries I was able to delete it. Did I somehow create this problem or is it a bug in the program? How do I proceed to use My Journal on a daily basis. I am on vacation in Italy and would like to use My Journal to record my daily happenings.

How to do?
Thank you for the great questions:
You may change the fonts by selecting a different layout in “Choose Layout”. If none of our templates fit your need, you may customize your own by clicking on the small ~ below the right corner of the layout image. Choose “Body Text” and select your new font. This is where you would set your paragraph indents as well.
Footnotes are exciting. We just added this feature. To add footnotes to your book you will use this format: ((#:footnote text)) Simply add it at the end of the sentence that needs the footnote. You can use numbers or letters in the # spot. Your footnotes will appear at the bottom of the page.
We do not currently have an automated feature for Drop Caps or endnotes. There is a way to do drop caps a little differently though. You could insert a photo of the letter and place it at the beginning of the paragraph to create a drop cap.

How do I change fonts? How do I do drop caps? How do I indent paragraphs instead of having them flush with the left side of the page? How do I add footnotes? How do I add endnotes? How do I add endnotes at the end of a chapter, instead of the end of the book?

It’s not gone, it’s just not ready yet. You will still be able to search all your entries as soon as we have the feature finished.
