I have a similar experienc, Sometimes it just says “loading” for 15 minutes, during which time I cannot navigate off the page. So I just turn it off and leave.

In 2007 you helped me to create our wedding book – it was great! This time i came back to create a baby book for our little Alex. I just bought the credit for baby book and when i use section “add photos” i can see all photos from the wedding book there. There are loooots of them and they slow everything down big deal. How can i remove/delete all of them???

My contributors are having unable to edit the information they have input earlier. Once they leave one contribution, they are unable to go back in and edit that same contribution. The initial contribution becomes “locked” and they have to create another contribution. Is there a way around this?

Topic: How do YOU use MemoryPress? / Family History Book

Is anyone else working on a family history book? If so, are you incorporating pedigree charts of any kind? And what kinds of chapters are you using? We have a lot of information on a few people, and very little on others – and we’re trying to figure out how to balance that out.

Pyllis,

You can change the size of the book inside of the “layout” feature in the MemoryPress editor. Then preview the book on your home computer. You could even download the pdf file and print it out.

One other tip, if you like one layout template a lot, but want it in another book size, you can adjust the layout by clicking the ~ in the lower right hand corner of the preview of each layout.

but how do I choose which book size to place it all into.

Is there a way to try out a size and see it? then change it to another size and try that?

Any suggestions?

Topic: Feature Requests / Add Company Logo on inside cover

For Personal Historian partners, your company name, address, phone number and website all appear on the back of the title page of every book. The book is already prepared for you to add any copyright or ISBN information. All of this is already possible.

The addition of an actual logo image is not yet available, but most of our current Personal Historians add their logo on the backside of the last page of the book. It makes a fitting ending and a good advertisement as well.

It sounds as though you have both chapters and sections. To move a section out from under a chapter, go to Edit Table of Contents and drag the title to the left so that it lines up with the other chapter headings. This will make the section it’s own chapter instead of a sub heading of the current chapter.

Liz and I discussed this on the phone today, but for those of us in the business of doing personal and family history books, it would be useful to be able to add a company logo on the inside of the front cover along with ISBN numbers and copyrights, in color or b/w, client’s choice. For most of us, branding is essential in the business along with word-of-mouth/reputation to attract future clients.

Any anticipated date that this feature will be available?

I have started my book and some chapters are setting inset under the main chapter title.
Yet under my other Main title, the chapters are setting underneath each other looking much better.
What did I do differently to get two different looks?

Hello, I’m just finishing my first book for my m/d’s 50th. I created a guest sign in at the beginning of the book with 3 pages of lines. Included chapters on their childhood as well. We have a large family so here are the Chapters I’m using right now. The Courtship and Wedding Chapters included details about their dating, wedding, receptions, honeymoon etc.

My friend did a book where they included chapters named after places the couple lived. Then children wrote memories and posted photos about those specific places. The family had traveled a lot and so that kind of book made sense.

The book we did for my grandparents was organized around the 6 children and each families memories. That worked well for us. Best to you on your new book.

Yes – and all the links to the blog lead to a dead end. I have a lot of questions and will call Monday morning, but the fact that there are few postings and that the “delete picture feature” is still not active after a year is causing me concern. I am having difficulty navigating the site and worry that family I have invited will not be able to contribute to the efforts because it is too hard to figure out.

Global Spell Check
A black line border around photos – that can be turned off or on. This would be so nice with photos that have light or white backgrounds.

Topic: System Annoucements / System Announcements

Today a customer complained that our site seemed outdated because we haven’t posted any system announcements in the last year. I think that’s actually a really good sign. The only time we’ve had to post announcements was in case of major troubles.

Since I don’t have anything to report, I’d like to make a system announcement thanking all our customers for being so amazing. I love getting to talk to each of you via phone or email, and hearing all about the great projects you’re working on.

There are VERY few postings in any of the forums, and almost none from the FamilyLearn staff. The latest system announcement was a year ago! I’m starting to wonder whether I should have purchased this software at all… the website seems almost forgotten and haunted, with broken links everywhere and error messages on nearly every page I load. There are supposed to be insturctional videos, but all you get is a description, with nothing you can click to start them. Very discouraging…
