How to get Pics to show up?

How do I get pictures to drag from the column to the body of the page? It won’t leave it there. It will drag but it won’t stay.

Hey, if you’re having trouble with photos, there’s a great new tutorial on photos on YouTube. Hopefully the tutorial will give you a better idea at how to drop the photos into the gray boxes.

The key is to make sure that you drop the photo when the drop zone area is highlighted with a red border.

OK folks – The ‘great new tutorial’ didn’t help me. (Sophia?) Like tspickdairy, I cannot get pictures to stay on the page. I followed instructions to the letter…. There is no highlighted drop zone… no picture….. no happy!

Is the fact that I have Vista an issue here?

Ideas please before I go crazy, preferably.

There are a couple of restrictions as to where photos can go. They can only go at the beginning and end of paragraphs. If your page of text has no paragraphs you can not drop it there. If there is no text, again, you can not drop a photo in that area. If you do have paragraphs and it still is not working, I would suggest calling our Customer Support at 888-326-5327. It is free support for you. They will be able to help with your specific book.

I have watched the video and have the same problem. there is no highlighted drop zone . Only the edit box comes up. I do have text on the page.

Hi , I went back and watched the tutorial again and wrote down the steps. He adds the photo of he and his sister by droping it right onto the text, adjust the size and color and puts in a caption. Then he clicks type reset and the text is automatically reset…That looks so easy and wonderful. I followed the steps exactly. I went to the page where I wanted the picture and followed those steps. I could drag the picture over but it would not stay and that was the end of the process. I am so fruswtrated with this process that I am wondering if we can ever get this book done in time for my mother’s birthday. I would really like to learn this because ther will be other contributors and this process is going very slowly.

I am so sorry that you are having trouble. Here are some things to check:

Are you using a supported Internet Browser? (Firefox or Internet Explorer 7) If not, the program will not display properly and could be contributing to the problem.

Here are the steps for adding a photo. Give them a try and let us know at what point things stop working for you.

Adding a Photo to a Text Page:

1. Start by turning to the page you would like to add the photo to.

2. Click the ‘Add a Photo’ button to the right of your book.

3. Click on the photo from your photo album, and drag it onto the text page. (Keep holding your mouse button down till after step 6.)

4. Grey boxes will pop up in the middle of each paragraph. Select which paragraph you would like to add the photo to, and move the picture there. (there must be a Hard Return between paragraphs in order for the photo boxes to pop up)

5. When you are selecting the correct box, a red outline will show up around it. When it does, drop your picture there.

6. NOTE: If a grey box, and red outline do not show up, your photo will not stay on the page. If you do not see this immediately, move your mouse slowly over the page, or the box. It usually appears quickly, but does take a bit longer for some people.

7. Once you’ve dropped your photo into the paragraph, you may right or left justify it. Click and hold the ‘Move’ tab at the top right of the photo. You will now be able to drag it into the box to the right or left.

8. When finished, click the orange Re-typeset button at the top of the screen. This will move your text to accommodate the photo.

I realized something we haven’t stated before. Currently, you cannot add photos to any of the front matter. (Title page, Dedication, Table of Contents) Photos can only go in the actual chapters. If this is where you are trying to add photos, and it’s not working, that would be why. Give it a try in a Chapter and see how easy it is.
